Join us at Sew You Can for a full day of sewing as we make the gorgeous Manon Jacket by Tilly and the Buttons.
Manon is a stylish, easy-to-wear jacket and a brilliant project for building your dressmaking confidence. We'll work through the pattern together, step-by-step, helping you understand not just what to do, but why you're doing it.
Skills you'll learn
During the workshop we'll cover lots of useful dressmaking techniques, including:
- Understanding your pattern and choosing the correct size
- Taking accurate measurements and understanding garment ease
- Preparing and cutting your fabric correctly
- Transferring pattern markings
- Accurate seam sewing and seam allowances
- Working with interfacing
- Constructing and attaching a collar
- Setting in sleeves
- Creating neat welted pockets
- Pressing as you sew for a professional finish
- Finishing your jacket neatly inside and out
These are all fantastic skills that you'll be able to take forward into lots of future dressmaking projects.
This is an intensive one-day workshop, so it's best suited to confident beginners and those with some previous sewing experience. You certainly don't need to be an expert — we'll be there to guide you all day.
Your Tilly and the Buttons Manon pattern is included in the course price, so it's yours to take home and make again.
All sewing machines and equipment are provided, along with plenty of tea and coffee ☕️
You'll bring your own fabric and matching thread — we'll send you full details of fabric requirements before the class.
