On this class we will guide you every step of the way as you create your shirt dress. This pattern features an oversized, blousy bodice with bust darts, button front opening, two-piece collar and stand, and, of course, side seam pockets. The gathered skirt can be hemmed just above the knee, or add the midi panel for a trendy tiered look. Definitely an impressive sew!
Choose between short sleeves for easy-breezy summer style or full length billowy sleeves with elasticated cuffs. Wear Lyra loose and floaty, or add an optional narrow tie to cinch you in at the waist.
Endlessly versatile, pick a cooling cotton for the heat, cosy needlecord for the winter or a drapey viscose for added swish!
The pattern used in this class is the Tilly and the Buttons Lyra dress. We will provide you with a copy of this pattern. This is the standard version of the pattern, the pattern sizes are for 61cm (waist) 84cm (hips) to 106cm (waist) 129cm (hips.) Please contact us BEFORE the class if you require a size out with this range.
What's included:
As well as all the tea you can drink, we will provide the sewing machines, all of the tools and threads you will need to complete your projects as well as any interfacing that you will need. You will also be provided with your own copy of the Tilly and the Buttons Lyra dress pattern that will be yours to keep.
What do I need to bring:
You will need to bring the fabric for your dress. You are free to bring this with you or we have fabric available to buy in the studio.
Who is this class for?
This class is for you if you have used a sewing machine before and completed some simple clothing projects and feel ready to take on more complex sewing pattern.
This class is not for you if:
You have never used a sewing machine before - we recommend completing one of our beginners classes first.
