The perfect slow sewing project to treasure.
In this class first we will show you how to quilt your fabric, then Kay will take you step by step through the process of constructing your timeless jacket. The Hovea coat is a warm and stylish quilted coat perfect for spring and Autumn layering, or summer if you live in Scotland! There are two quilting designs to choose from and you’ll stay toasty thanks to the inner layer of cotton or wool batting, while the roomy welt pockets will keep your belongings safe and your hands warm.
In this class you will be introduced to basic quilting and finishing the edges with bias binding.
Megan Nielsen have sized the Hovea Sewing Pattern 0-20. Size 0 measures bust, 81cm: waist 61cm: hips 86cm. Size 18 is bust 112cm, waist 91cm, hips 117cm. Please contact us before booking if your measurements fall outside of this – there is a version of the pattern which runs size 14-34, but we will need to know in advance if you need this downloaded and assembled.
What's included:
We will provide you with your own copy of the Megan Nielson Pattern, which is yours to keep and make again and again. We also provide all of the kit you need from sewing machines to pins we have everything ready and waiting for you in out brilliant studio. The wadding you need for your jacket is included with the class as is any interfacing and thread you need so all you need to worry about if finding the perfect fabric and bias binding if you are not making your own. After booking we will send out an email explaining what the fabric requirements are. Lunch is provided in our all-day weekend classes as is lots of tea, coffee and biscuits.
Who is this class for? This is an adult improver dressmaking class. That means it’s not ideal as your first dressmaking class, or for complete beginners. You will need to be able to use a sewing machine and follow a seam allowance. You do not need any quilting experience at all. Ideally you will have completed some beginner dressmaking projects such as our Sew a Simple range of classes. This class is for over 16s only.
