Hello & Welcome!
Hello! I’m so happy that you have found yourself on our website and our lovely blog. This is our first blog post, so it seems only fitting to introduce ourselves and tell you a little bit about what we do here.
I am Kay and Sew You Can has been a dream of mine for a long time. I love learning and I love teaching people, but I also absolutely adore sewing and creating clothes that I love and that fit me perfectly. For a long time it has seemed like the logical thing to do to combine these two passions and teach people how to sew! Finally in March 2024 I took over Sew You Can.
I am still on a high and I look around this amazing studio space we have created and I need to pinch myself! Our studio is in fact, 2 bright, airy and spacious studios. We are proud to be working in partnership with Janome and have 16 top of the range M100QDC sewing machines for our students to use. We have specially selected these amazing machines because they are so user friendly and reliable. They are straight forward enough for beginners to get to grips with but also have an abundance of amazing features for the advanced seamstress to play with! We want your time in the studio to be maximised, no sitting waiting to use the iron or the overlocker so we are delighted to be able to have 8 irons and ironing boards and 8 Janome overlockers in the studio. If you are used to sewing on the kitchen table, we wanted coming to the studio to feel like the ultimate sewing experience and have taken so much time to ensure we have thought of everything. And, if you are used to sewing on the kitchen table you will know that the ultimate in sewing luxury is a cutting height table, no more sore backs or kneeling on the floor! We have 5 cutting height tables so it really is sewing luxury.
One of the best things about our journey over the last few months is it is no longer just me. I am so lucky to work with a team of amazing tutors. It was a daunting prospect to trust anyone else to teach any of the classes. Would they be friendly and welcoming? Would they be kind and compassionate? Would they be passionate and love sewing? But, thank goodness, I can relax because I have found 4 of THE most amazing girls ever! Who could not possibly be more friendly and welcoming, kind and compassionate if they tried. And what these girls don’t know about sewing isn’t worth knowing.
I hope you will join us in the studio soon and get to know the team for yourself. I am sure you will love it!
Hope to see you soon,
Happy Stitching
