Let’s make a SHACKET!

Is it a jacket? Is it a shirt? It’s both!

The perfect item for men and women you can wear your shacket as an oversized shirt or layer it up and wear it as a jacket, amazing!

This 2 day class will teach you lots of features of shirt making that you will be able to apply to lots of other projects. It will also get you working with heavier weight fabrics and show that top stitching is not to be feared!

In this class we will be using the Friday Pattern Company Ilford Jacket pattern, which is suitable for both men and women. The Ilford features dropped shoulders for a relaxed fit and a choice of sleeve, a cuff and sleeve placket or a boxy sleeve for a more relaxed look and easier to sew option. There’s also a choice of length and lots of pocket options to choose from.

There's so much to learn with this class and beautiful details to add to your shacket, so this class will take place over 2 days.

In this class you will learn to:

  • Construct a collar
  • Top stich
  • Create a sleeve with placket & cuff (if you choose this option)
  • Sew buttonholes
  • Work with medium to heavy weight fabric
  • Apply neat patch pockets
